Iowa 75, Virginia 64: Roy Devyn Marble scored 24 points as the Hawkeyes ended the Cavaliers 19-game home winning streak in the quarterfinals of the National Invitation Tournament.

Adam Woodbury and Zach McCabe each added 10 points for Iowa (24-12), which improved to 3-8 on the road and will play Maryland next week in the NIT Final Four at Madison Square Garden.

Freshman Justin Anderson set career highs with five 3-pointers and 24 points to pace Virginia (23-12), which fell to 20-2 at John Paul Jones Arena. Mike Tobey tallied 15 points and three blocks for the Cavaliers.

Iowa led by as many as 10 points in the first half and survived a 12-2 run that knotted the game at 23. The Hawkeyes settled for a 31-28 halftime advantage after Joe Harris drilled a 3-pointer right before the break. Virginia claimed the lead for the first time at 32-31 on a layup from Tobey early in the second half.

After another basket by Tobey gave the Cavaliers a 41-39 advantage, the Hawkeyes took the lead for good on a 3-pointer from Marble. Virginia made one last push to close within 49-46 with 8:05 remaining, but a layup from Marble and a 3-ponter by McCabe capped a 9-0 run to help Iowa establish a double-digit lead.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Iowa’s point total was the highest allowed by Virginia at home this season. … Anderson set his career high in points for the second straight game after scoring 18 against St. John’s in the Cavaliers’ second-round victory. … Iowa freshman G Mike Gesell suffered an apparent ankle injury in the first half and did not return to action after intermission.
