No. 12 Kansas State 66, Texas 49:
Rodney McGruder made four 3-pointers and scored a game-high 24 points as the Wildcats pulled away in the second half against the Longhorns in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 tournament in Kansas City.

Angel Rodriguez added 13 points for Kansas State (26-6), which made nine of its 21 shots from 3-point range and improved to 3-0 against Texas this season. The Wildcats will face Oklahoma State in Friday’s semifinals.

Julien Lewis scored 13 points to lead the seventh-seeded Longhorns (16-17), who trailed by six at the half but fell behind by 18 with 8:49 remaining after McGruder scored eight points during an 11-0 run.

Texas hit back-to-back 3-pointers to cut the deficit to 58-47 with 6:18 left before Kansas State drew clear with eight unanswered points. Jonathan Holmes chipped in 10 points for the Longhorns, who were held to 34 percent shooting.

Kansas State bounced back from its 76-70 loss at Oklahoma State on Saturday by holding the Longhorns without a field goal over the final 6:18. The Wildcats won despite missing eight of their 21 shots from the foul line.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Kansas State improved to 23-1 when leading at the half. …Texas PG Myck Kabongo missed all five of his shots and was held to two points, well below his average of 15.8. ... The Wildcats won both meetings against Baylor and split their two games against Oklahoma State.
