Ben McLemore scored a game-high 24 points to lead the top-seeded Jayhawks past the ninth-seeded Red Raiders in a Big 12 tournament quarterfinal in Kansas City, Mo.

McLemore was 8-for-12 shooting with four 3-pointers and Rio Adams scored 11 points off the bench for Kansas (27-5), which will play fifth-seeded Iowa State in Friday’s semifinals. Jeff Withey and Kevin Young chipped in nine points apiece for the Big 12 regular-season co-champions, who were 14-4 in Big 12 play.

Dejan Kravic scored 20 points to lead Texas Tech (11-20), which beat eighth-seeded West Virginia 71-69 in Wednesday’s opening round. Dusty Hannahs chipped in 15 points and Jordan Tolbert added 13 points and six rebounds for the Red Raiders, who were ninth in conference play at 3-15.

Kansas, which never trailed in the game, jumped out to a 15-2 lead before Texas Tech cut it to 27-25 on Tolbert’s layup with 3:11 left. The Jayhawks countered with a 7-0 run in which Withey scored five points and took a 34-25 advantage into halftime.

Texas Tech pulled as close as 34-27 in the second half before Kansas turned the game into blowout. The Jayhawks improved to 25-4 in the series and have won the last eight meetings, including 79-42 on March 4 in Lawrence and 60-46 on Jan. 12 in Lubbock.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Kansas outrebounded Texas Tech 27-21. … The Jayhawks finished 31-for-47 shooting while the Red Raiders were 19-for-48. … Texas Tech fell to 13-17 all-time in the Big 12 tournament.
