Iowa State 73, Oklahoma 66: Melvin Ejim scored a career-high 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the fifth-seeded Cyclones past the fourth-seeded Sooners in a Big 12 tournament quarterfinal in Kansas City, Mo.

Will Clyburn added 17 points for Iowa State (22-10), which advanced to Friday’s semifinals and will play top-seeded Kansas. Georges Niang and Chris Babb chipped in 10 points apiece for the Cyclones, who won their third straight.

Romero Osby had 18 points and nine rebounds to lead Oklahoma (20-11). Cameron Clark came off the bench and scored 17 points for the Sooners, who lost their second straight.

Powered by Osby’s 12 points and aided by Iowa State’s 1-for-12 shooting from 3-point range, Oklahoma led by as many as 14 points in the first half and took a 37-29 advantage into halftime. The Cyclones went on a 12-0 run, tying the game at 60 on Clyburn’s 3-pointer with 4:12 remaining, and Babb made a 3-pointer with 37 seconds left to give Iowa State a 71-66 lead and seal the victory.

Iowa State improved to 81-111 in the series, including 3-5 in conference postseason tournament play (1-4 Big Eight, 2-1 Big 12). The Cyclones split with Oklahoma in the regular season, losing 86-69 on March 2 in Norman, Okla., and winning 83-64 on Feb. 4 at home.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Iowa State earned its first win in the Big 12 tournament since 2005. … Ejim registered his 14th double-double and has a double-double against every team in the Big 12. … The Cyclones, who came in leading the country in 3-pointers per game (10), finished 7-for-26 from long distance and outrebounded the Sooners 43-31.
