Mississippi 81, Hawaii 66: Murphy Holloway tallied 18 points and nine rebounds as the Rebels overcame a huge first-half rally by the Warriors and a dominant effort from Vander Joaquim to win the fifth-place game of the Diamond Head Classic.

Nick Williams added two late insurance baskets to salvage an otherwise poor 5-for-17 effort from the field en route to 16 points for Mississippi (10-2).

Joaquim finished with a career-high 29 points – including 18 in the second half – and added 15 rebounds for Hawaii (6-5).

The opening 20 minutes was a tale of two halves, as Marshall Henderson bookended a 22-2 run with back-to-back 3-pointers to put the Rebels up 27-7 just 11:23 into the contest. Ole Miss then missed 10 of its next 11 shots, opening the door for the Warriors to answer with 23 of the final 25 points of the half to enter the break with a 30-29 lead.

Neither team led by more than three points until Aaron Jones and Holloway hit jumpers to give the Rebels a 67-63 advantage with 2:54 left. Jones followed with an emphatic dunk and Williams a pair of easy shots off steals to complete the 10-point surge with 1:25 remaining.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Holloway fell just one rebound shy of extending his three-game double-double streak. … Joaquim is averaging 26 points and 12 rebounds over his last two games after averaging 13.3 points and 7.2 boards over his first nine. … The Warriors won the rebounding battle 37-28 - just the second time this season the Rebels were outrebounded.
