: Pierce Hornung recorded his first double-double of the season with 18 points and 10 rebounds as the Rams outscored the Hokies by 30 points in second half to pull away in the championship game of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic.

Dorian Green added 18 points on 5-of-6 shooting from 3-point range, Greg Smith had 17 points and eight rebounds and Colton Iverson finished with 15 and seven boards for Colorado State (10-2), which committed just six turnovers.

Erick Green poured in a game-high 26 points while Jarell Eddie chipped in 10 for Virginia Tech (9-3).

A 3-pointer by Wes Eikmeier capped an 11-0 run for the Rams to give them a 17-10 lead with 9:46 left in the first half. After a three-point play from Iverson and jumper by Smith pushed the advantage to 32-22 with 1:05 left, C.J. Barksdale converted a tip-in and Green made a 3-pointer to pull the Hokies within six at the break.

Green and Smith combined for five 3-pointers as Colorado State opened the second half on a 28-9 run to make the score 61-36 with 11:13 left. After a 3-pointer by Eddie, the Rams scored 16 straight and increased their lead to 77-39 with 5:26 left.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Colorado State defeated each of its opponents – North Florida, CSU Bakersfield, Portland and Virginia Tech – by at least 17 points in this event. ... The Rams outrebounded the Hokies 42-30 and won the battle on the glass in all 11 games this season. Colorado State entered the game first in the nation in rebounding margin at plus-16.1 ... Hornung recorded four double-doubles last season and has six in his career.
