Mississippi 85, San Francisco 78: Murphy Holloway turned in his third consecutive double with 23 points and 13 rebounds as the Rebels held off the Dons in a consolation game of the Diamond Head Classic.

Nick Williams added four 3-pointers on his way to an 18-point performance for Mississippi (9-2), which will face either Hawaii or East Tennessee State on Christmas Day.

San Francisco (5-6) controlled the action for most of the first half and led by as many as 13 points on two occasions, but the Rebels nailed three straight 3-pointers to help trim the deficit to 38-33 at the break.

Mississippi continued the onslaught beyond the arc early in the second half, getting two from Marshall Henderson and a layup from Holloway to open the final 20 minutes with a 13-2 surge. The Dons were able to retake a 62-58 lead with eight minutes left, but Henderson made all three free throws after drawing a foul on a 3-pointer and Williams drained another 3-pointer to give the Rebels the lead for good.

Cody Doolin scored the final six points for San Francisco and had a fine all-around game with team highs of 20 points, seven rebounds and eight assists.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Holloway has six double-doubles this season and 31 for his career – more than any other active player in the Southeastern Conference. …. The Dons have dropped five in a row after winning five straight. … The Rebels’ Marshall Henderson entered the game averaging an SEC-best 18.5 points, but shot just 2-of-9 from the field and finished with 12 points.
