No. 14 Missouri 68, VCU 65: Phil Pressey hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with 1:18 remaining as the Tigers withstood the Rams to come away with a win in the third-place game at the Battle 4 Atlantis.

Pressey scored eight of his 11 points in the second half – including five over the final 78 seconds – and added eight assists for Missouri (5-1), which rebounded from its 23-turnover performance in Friday’s loss against Louisville with only 13 against VCU's pressure defense.

The Tigers led by as many as nine points with 14:20 remaining, but the Rams used the next 10:52 to chip away until Darius Theus scored all seven of his points over a 58-second stretch to give VCU a 60-59 advantage – its first lead of the second half.

Missouri converted a pair of layups to answer Rob Brandenberg’s jumper to retake the lead, but Briante Weber drilled a 3-pointer with 1:36 left. However, the Rams would not score again as Pressey answered with a step-back 3-pointer and added a 15-foot jumper as the shot clock was about to expire over the next two possessions.

Juvonte Reddic finished with 12 points and nine rebounds to pace VCU (3-3).

GAME NOTEBOOK: One game after VCU generated a season-low five steals against Duke, the Rams managed four against Missouri. … Laurence Bowers recorded his second-double in three games in Nassau, leading the Tigers with 14 points and 11 rebounds. … Missouri improved to 32-1 under coach Frank Haith when leading at halftime.
