No. 9 North Carolina 112, Chaminade 70: James Michael McAdoo scored 18 points to lead five Tar Heels in double figures in the third-place game at the Maui Invitational.

Reggie Bullock finished with 17 points after making all six of his field-goal attempts in the first half, including three 3-pointers, and Leslie McDonald also scored 17 points for North Carolina (4-1).

DeAndre Haskins scored 22 points for Chaminade (2-3) before leaving in the second half with a knee injury. Bennie Murray contributed 15 points for the Silverswords and Lee Bailey scored 10.

Chaminade led 9-6 early on but North Carolina went on a 20-2 run and then gradually extended its lead to 62-33 at the half. The Tar Heels scored just 18 first-half points the day before in an 82-71 semifinal loss to Butler, their lowest-scoring first half since 1996. North Carolina shot 24-for-35 from the field in the first half (68.6 percent) and 43-for-69 for the game.

McAdoo, who was held to 10 points in each of the first two games of the tournament, pushed his season average to a team-high 16.8 points.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Tar Heels scored the most points in a game since putting up 116 against UNC-Asheville in 2008. The tournament record for most points is 160 by Loyola Marymount against Chaminade in 1990. … Haskins averaged 24.3 points for the tournament, which included 32 in the upset victory Monday against Texas. … Brice Johnson, a 6-9 freshman forward for the Tar Heels, scored a season-high 16 points
