Oklahoma State 76, No. 6 North Carolina State 56: Freshman Marcus Smart scored 18 of his 20 points in the first half as the Cowboys upset the favored Wolfpack to win the championship game of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off.

Smart added seven rebounds, seven assists, four steals and four blocks while Le’Bryan Nash led all scorers with 23 points and eight rebounds for Oklahoma State (4-0), which claimed its first regular-season tournament title since 1991.

Smart drilled two 3-pointers and a jumper to spark an early 11-2 run that turned a two-point deficit into a 16-9 lead. North Carolina State (3-1) scored six straight to rally to within one, but Smart answered with eight straight points during a 12-2 stretch that gave the Cowboys a 28-17 cushion.

The Wolfpack responded again with five straight points, but could get no closer than six points the rest of the way. Oklahoma State took a 38-28 advantage into the break and continued to increase the margin throughout the second half, leading by as many as 22 points late in the game.

Freshmen Rodney Purvis and T.J. Warren scored 16 and 15 points, respectively, to pace North Carolina State, which was held to its lowest point total in 18 games.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Smart was named the tournament MVP after posting 53 points, 25 rebounds, 13 assists and 10 steals in three games. … Oklahoma State led for the final 35 minutes of the game. … North Carolina State's scoring output was its lowest since a 56-51 win over Boston College on on Feb. 1, 2012.
