Charleston 71, Boston College 67: Andrew Lawrence scored a game-high 22 points - including nine in the final minute - as the host Cougars held off the Eagles in the seventh-place game of the Charleston (S.C.) Classic.

Lawrence, who missed a game with a stomach virus, made a 3-pointer with one minute left to give Charleston (2-2) a 65-60 lead before converting 6-of-8 at the free-throw line to preserve the victory.

Boston College (1-3), which was playing without injured leading scorer and rebounder Ryan Anderson (sore ankle), led 40-37 before Matt Sundberg’s 3-pointer ignited an 11-2 run for Charleston. Patrick Heckmann recorded a team-high 18 points, Lonnie Jackson had 14 and Joe Rahon added 13 for the Eagles.

Anthony Stitt contributed 14 points and Anthony Thomas had 10 - all in the second half - for Charleston. Willis Hall, who was subbing for injured leading scorer Trent Wiedeman (ankle), had 11 rebounds for the Cougars.

Heckmann and Jackson each drained three from 3-point range in the first half as Boston College led by as much as seven and settled for a 34-29 halftime lead. Stitt matched them with nine points for Charleston in the opening 20 minutes.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Heckmann was 4-of-6 from 3-point range and is now 9-of-14 on the season from beyond the arc. … Charleston, which averaged 16.7 turnovers entering the game, had just 11. …Boston College hosts Auburn on Wednesday and Charleston visits 17th-ranked Baylor on Saturday.
