: Shane Southwell scored 16 points as part of a balanced attack and the host Wildcats drubbed the Division II Chargers in an NIT Season Tip-Off game.

Rodney McGruder had 11 points and Angel Rodriguez and Will Spradling added 10 apiece. Rodriguez had a game-high six assists for Kansas State (3-0), which will meet Delaware in the semifinals Nov. 21 in Madison Square Garden.

Alabama-Huntsville (1-2), which was the first Division II team to participate in the annual event, shot 16.4 percent (9-for-55) from the floor and turned the ball over 13 times.

Nino Williams hit a jumper, Rodriguez buried a 3-pointer and McGruder had a dunk in the opening two-plus minutes to ignite a 19-2 Wildcats' run out of the gate. A pair of McGruder free throws with 5:24 left in the first half gave Kansas State its first 30-point advantage en route to a 47-11 lead at the break.

After a jumper by Jaime Smith with 16:50 to go, Alabama-Huntsville went more than 11 minutes without a field goal and the Wildcats kept pouring it on. Southwell's 3-pointer with 11:08 to go pushed the lead to more than 50 points for the first time at 67-16.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Chargers were 12-of-27 from 3-point range in their opening-round win over North Texas, but 3-for-33 (9.1 percent) from the arc Tuesday. ... Kansas State had a 54-22 advantage on the boards. ... The Wildcats are making a habit of starting fast. They raced to a 15-1 lead in the first four minutes against Lamar on Monday.
