Iowa 63, Illinois 55: Roy Devyn Marble led all scorers with 21 points and the Hawkeyes blocked a school-record 12 shots to knock off the visiting Fighting Illini.

Josh Oglesby added 10 points for Iowa, which improved to 15-2 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The Hawkeyes (19-11, 8-9 Big Ten) limited Illinois to 28.6 percent from the floor for the game.

Brandon Paul scored 18 points for the Illini (21-10, 8-9), who fell for only the second time in their last eight games. D.J. Richardson pitched in 13 points and Paul added nine rebounds for Illinois, which started each half ice cold, causing an uphill battle all game that proved too much to overcome.

A Sam McLaurin tip-in gave the Illini their first points of the game on their first field-goal attempt to knot the game at 2, but Illinois would go on to miss 15 straight shots as Iowa built the early lead. The Hawkeyes led 31-28 at halftime but the Illini's attempt at a comeback was hindered by a mere three points in the opening eight minutes of the final 20.

Gabriel Olaseni led the rejection-happy Iowa defense with a career-best six blocks. The Hawkeyes dominated down low on both ends, outscoring Illinois in the paint 28-12.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Illinois entered the game having won 10 of the last 11 in the series. ... The win gave Iowa coach Fran McCaffery 299 for his career. ... The Illini fell under .500 on the season when scoring less than 70 points (7-8).
