Elston Turner had a game-high 28 points, including four 3-pointers, to go with five assists, four steals and four rebounds to lead the host Aggies past the Gamecocks in the teams' first meeting.

Ray Turner had 16 points and a team-high six rebounds to help Texas A&M (17-12, 7-9 SEC) snap a two-game losing streak. Fabyon Harris came off the bench and scored 12 points for the Aggies, who improved to 12-5 at home.

Michael Carrera had 16 points and a team-high nine rebounds to lead South Carolina (13-16, 3-13), which has lost nine of its last 10 games, including three straight. Bruce Ellington had 10 points and six assists for the Gamecocks, who fell to 1-8 on the road.

Texas A&M led by as many as eight points in the first half, going up 24-16 on J’Mychal Reese’s 3-pointer with 6:46 left before halftime. South Carolina’s Brian Steele nailed a 3-pointer with 20 seconds left, capping an 8-2 run and tying the game at 32 going into intermission.

South Carolina took its first lead, 34-32, on Mindaugas Kacinas’ layup early in the second half and the Gamecocks went up 36-32 on two free throws by Kacinas. Texas A&M produced a 14-0 run for a 46-36 lead with 8:52 remaining and continued to pull away.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Texas A&M was 29-for-54 shooting from the field to South Carolina’s 18-for-47. … The Gamecocks committed 17 turnovers, while the Aggies had eight. … This was the 200th career game for South Carolina coach Frank Martin, who fell to 5-3 all-time against Texas A&M, including 1-2 record in College Station.
