Minnesota 77, No. 1 Indiana 73:
Trevor Mbakwe scored a season-high 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as the host Golden Gophers delivered a scintillating upset of the Hoosiers in Big Ten play.

Andre Hollins added 16 points and Minnesota (19-9, 7-8 Big Ten) rallied from an eight-point second-half deficit to win for just the fourth time in 12 games. It is the first time the Golden Gophers have defeated a top-ranked squad since beating Illinois in 1989.

Jordan Hulls scored 17 points and made five 3-pointers and Victor Oladipo added 16 points for Indiana (24-4, 12-3), which had a four-game winning streak snapped. Hoosiers star Cody Zeller had only nine points on 2-of-9 shooting.

Zeller’s three-point play with 4:39 left gave the Hoosiers a 59-58 lead before Minnesota used a 10-2 run to take a seven-point advantage on Joe Coleman’s fast-break dunk with 2:31 remaining. Indiana pulled within 76-73 on a 3-pointer by Hulls with 4.2 seconds left before Hollins hit one of two free throws to make it a two-possession game with 3.5 seconds to go.

Indiana led 34-30 at halftime and increased the lead to eight on Oladipo’s layup with 15:43 to play. The Golden Gophers responded with a 15-4 surge to take a 51-48 lead on a 3-pointer by Hollins with 8:54 remaining.
