Kendall Williams scored a career-high 46 points and set a Mountain West record with 10 3-pointers as the Lobos ended the Rams’ 27-game home-court winning streak.

Alex Kirk added 19 points and 10 rebounds for first-place New Mexico (23-4, 10-2 Mountain West), which has a two-game lead over Colorado State in the conference race with four games to play.

Colton Iverson had a career-high 26 points and 15 rebounds, Wes Eikmeier matched a season high with 22 points and Dorian Green added 20 for Colorado State (21-6, 8-4), which grabbed 20 offensive rebounds en route to a 42-33 edge on the boards.

Williams was 10-of-13 from 3-point range and made five 3-pointers in each half. Colorado State led 70-64 with 6:35 to play before Williams capped an 11-0 spurt with back-to-back 3-pointers as New Mexico took a five-point lead with 3:59 to play.

Williams reached 40 with two free throws with 44.5 seconds left to boost the Lobos’ lead to 84-76. He had 20 first-half points but Colorado State led 41-38 at halftime.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Air Force’s Michael Lyons had the previous top Mountain West scoring effort of the season with 45 points, also coming against the Rams. … Williams’ output is third-most in New Mexico history. Marvin Johnson holds the record of 50, set against Colorado State on March 2, 1978. … The Rams had a 26-5 edge in second-chance points.
