UCLA 88, Stanford 80: Shabazz Muhammad scored 25 points to lead four players in double figures and the visiting Bruins pulled away late against the Cardinal.

The game was close throughout with nine ties and 12 lead changes, but UCLA (19-7, 9-4 Pac-12) moved ahead 75-69 when David Wear scored with 2:27 left and sealed the win on Muhammad’s four-point play with 1:46 to play.

Dwight Powell led Stanford with 22 points and Aaron Bright added 19. Chasson Randle had 17 points for the Cardinal (15-11, 6-7), who have lost three of their last four. Stanford, which made 38.5 percent of its season-high 78 shots, never led again after pulling ahead 19-17 with 11:43 left in first half.

UCLA bounced back from a 13-point loss at California by shooting 54.4 percent from the field, including 6-of-11 from 3-point range. Jordan Adams’ layup at the halftime buzzer put the Bruins up 43-38.

Adams scored 20 points and Kyle Anderson recorded his seventh double-double of the season with 18 points and 13 rebounds for the Bruins, who have won nine of the last 11 matchups against Stanford.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Former Stanford co-captain Peter Sauer, who passed away at the age of 35 last July, was honored at halftime. … UCLA PG Larry Drew II, who had 14 points and seven assists, tied a season high with five turnovers. ...Stanford F Josh Huestis had 11 points and a team-high 12 rebounds.
