West Virginia 66, Texas Tech 64: Deniz Kilicli had a career-high 25 points and eight rebounds to lead the host Mountaineers past the Red Raiders.

West Virginia (13-12, 6-6 Big 12) won for the fourth time in five games and improved to 8-3 at home. Eron Harris scored 15 points for the Mountaineers, who beat Texas Tech 77-61 on Feb. 2 in Lubbock and are 3-0 in the series.

Jaye Crockett had 18 points and 10 rebounds off the bench to lead Texas Tech (9-14, 2-10), which lost for the 10th time in 11 games and fell to 1-5 on the road. Dusty Hannahs had 12 points on four 3-pointers, Jamal Williams Jr. added 11 and Jordan Tolbert chipped in 10 before fouling out with 6:12 to play.

Texas Tech went on an 8-2 run for a 15-10 lead but West Virginia countered with a 22-10 run for a 32-25 halftime lead. The Red Raiders went up 39-38 on Hannahs’ 3-pointer with 14:01 left but the Mountaineers’ Kilicli made a pair of free throws to give West Virginia a 40-39 lead it did not relinquish.

Trailing 66-64 with 9.5 seconds left, Texas Tech’s Josh Gray attempted a 3-pointer that hit the front of the rim. West Virginia committed 17 turnovers to Texas Tech’s 13 but the Mountaineers outrebounded the Red Raiders 37-25.

GAME NOTEBOOK: With 723 career wins, West Virginia coach Bob Huggins needs one to tie Ray Meyer for 18th place on the NCAA Division I all-time winningest coaches list. … Texas Tech played at West Virginia for the first time. … The Mountaineers improved to 128-32 against teams making their first visit to WVU Coliseum.
