Jio Fontan scored 15 points and Dewayne Dedmon had 13 points and eight rebounds as the Trojans withstood a furious comeback to complete a season sweep of the host Cardinal.

After trailing by as many as 14 points early in the second half, Stanford (15-10, 6-6 Pac-12) cut USC's lead to one on Dwight Powell’s basket with 26 seconds left. The Trojans’ Eric Wise missed two free throws before Chasson Randle missed from 3-point range at the buzzer.

Stanford’s Josh Huestis scored a career-high 22 points on 10-of-13 shooting and Powell had 17 points and a career-high 17 boards. Randle scored all 16 of his points in the second half while making four 3-pointers.

USC (12-13, 7-5), which improved to 5-3 under interim coach Bob Cantu, led 35-23 at halftime after J.T. Terrell hit a 3-pointer from 40 feet away with three seconds left. Terrell finished with 12 points, including three 3-pointers.

Stanford, which entered the game as the top 3-point shooting team in the Pac-12, was 6-of-21 from beyond the arc and 4-of-12 (33.3 percent) from the free-throw line.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Stanford, which lost 71-69 at USC on Jan. 3, fell to 62-21 at home under coach Johnny Dawkins. … Six of Cantu’s first eight games have been decided by five points or less, with two of them going into overtime. … USC has won four straight for the first time since Feb. 17-26, 2011.
