No. 21 Notre Dame 82, DePaul 78 (OT): Jerian Grant finished with 21 points – including six in the extra period – as the host Fighting Irish survived another Big East overtime thriller.

Grant had nine assists while Jack Cooley posted his 17th double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds for Notre Dame (20-5, 8-4 Big East), which improved to 3-0 in overtime games in February after Saturday’s five-overtime victory over Louisville and its second overtime win against DePaul in 11 days.

Cleveland Melvin tallied a game-high 23 points and Brandon Young added 20 for the Blue Demons (10-14, 1-10), who have dropped nine straight.

After coming up short on a fadeaway jumper that could have won the game in regulation, Grant hit a free throw early in the extra period that gave the Irish the lead for good at 69-68. A 3-pointer from Young brought the Blue Demons within one point with 2:20 remaining, but Grant completed a three-point play with 1:39 left to give Notre Dame a 77-73 lead.

Grant hit a pair of foul shots with 25 seconds remaining and the Irish drained three of four free throws over the final 17 seconds to seal the win.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Notre Dame set a school record with its seventh straight 20-win season. … DePaul lost its 40th consecutive game against a ranked opponent. … The Irish improved to 3-1 in overtime this season while the Blue Demons fell to 0-3 in such games. DePaul has lost its last eight overtime games overall.
