No. 15 Georgetown 63, No. 20 Marquette 55:
Otto Porter Jr. scored 21 points and Markel Starks added 16 as the Hoyas knocked off the visiting Golden Eagles.

Nate Lubick chipped in 10 points for Georgetown (18-4, 8-3 Big East), which avenged a one-point loss to Marquette from earlier in the season. The Hoyas have won six straight and eight of the last nine.

Jamil Wilson had 13 points and Chris Otule scored 11 for the Golden Eagles (17-6, 8-3), who surrendered their share of first place in the Big East. Marquette and Georgetown sit one-half game behind Syracuse.

The Hoyas used a 13-5 run over the final 5:18 of the first half to open up a 33-23 lead at the break. The Golden Eagles shot 50 percent from the field in the first half but committed 12 turnovers as Georgetown took control.

Marquette drew as close as 37-34 on Wilson’s 3-pointer with 12:58 left, but Porter scored six points in an 8-1 run to stretch it back out. Porter’s three-point play with 3:42 left pushed it to 60-46 and allowed the Hoyas to coast to the finish.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Porter is averaging 18.6 points in nine games since Greg Whittington was ruled academically ineligible. … Georgetown will play three of its next four on the road, including a trip to No. 7 Syracuse on Feb. 23. … Marquette coach Buzz Williams was called for a technical foul with 12:13 left, just before the Hoyas began to pull away.
