Georgia Tech 64, Virginia Tech 54: Marcus Georges-Hunt and Kammeon Holsey scored 13 points apiece for the visiting Yellow Jackets in the matchup of last-place ACC teams.

Holsey scored his points in the first half, helping Georgia Tech (13-9, 3-7 ACC) to a 19-point lead. Holsey, Georges-Hunt and Robert Carter grabbed nine rebounds each for the Yellow Jackets.

Erick Green, who entered the game leading the nation in scoring (25.2),had 28 points for Virginia Tech (11-12, 2-8), including 16 in the second half when the Hokies trimmed a 25-point deficit to eight in the final minute.

Virginia Tech missed its first 10 field-goal attempts and quickly fell behind 11-1. The Yellow Jackets extended the lead to as many as 22 in the first half before settling for a 37-18 lead at intermission. That represented a season-low halftime point total for the Hokies.

Georgia Tech extended its lead to 25 with 16:27 remaining, but the Hokies finally got hot behind Green, who scored nine points in a 15-1 run that cut the deficit to 11 with 10:24 left. That was as close as Virginia Tech got until the Hokies cut the deficit to eight in the final minute.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Green remains on pace to become the second ACC player to lead the nation in scoring. Grady Wallace of South Carolina was the first in 1956-57. … Virginia Tech is 4-12 since starting the season 7-0 with a win over No. 24 Oklahoma State. … The Yellow Jackets improved to 1-7 at Cassell Coliseum.
