Rotnei Clarke led a balanced attack with 17 points as the host Bulldogs moved into a first-place tie in the Atlantic 10 Conference.

Andrew Smith had 13 points and seven rebounds for Butler (19-4, 6-2 A-10), which improved to 11-0 at home. Khyle Marshall and Chase Stigall added 12 points apiece.

Demitrius Conger led St. Bonaventure with 18 points. The Bonnies (10-11, 3-5) had won three of their last four games, including two straight on the road.

Butler went on a 9-0 run on three 3-pointers - the first two by Stigall - to go ahead for good 20-13 and closed the first half with a 10-3 spurt to lead 39-30 at the break. Conger was 3-for-3 from the field and 5-for-5 from the foul line in the first half while Stigall was 3-for-3 from 3-point range as the teams combined to go 10-for-16 from beyond the arc.

Marshall got the Bulldogs rolling with the first basket of the second half - a highlight-reel, one-handed dunk - and Butler increased its lead to 56-35 following Smith's three-point play with 13:12 remaining. The Bulldogs didn't allow the lead to dip below 14 the rest of the way.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
St. Bonaventure fell to 9-58 all-time against ranked teams and 0-29 on the road. ... Butler F Erik Fromm returned to the team after missing Saturday's game because of the death of his father and his 3-pointer with 3:42 remaining brought the Hinkle Fieldhouse crowd to its feet. ... Clarke (team-leading 17.1 points per game) has led the Bulldogs in scoring in the last four games since missing three contests with a neck injury.
