No. 23 Cincinnati 65, Seton Hall 59: Sean Kilpatrick scored a game-high 21 points and the visiting Bearcats started the second half on a 15-0 run before holding off a big rally by the Pirates.

Cashmere Wright added 17 points for Cincinnati (18-4, 6-3 Big East), which saw a 20-point lead trimmed to 52-48 with 6:46 remaining. The Bearcats would not allow Seton Hall to get closer in sealing their fifth victory in the last six games.

Fuquan Edwin and Brandon Mobley led the way with 16 points each for the Pirates (13-9, 2-7), who dropped to 1-3 at home in Big East games. Eugene Teague chipped in with 11 points for Seton Hall, which was 11-of-18 from the free-throw line.

Seton Hall led a good portion of the first half before the Bearcats finished with a 7-2 run – five by Wright – to take a 33-28 lead at intermission. Kilpatrick had 12 points and Wright 11 in the opening 20 minutes for Cincinnati while Mobley poured in 12 for the Pirates.

The Bearcats held Seton Hall without a point for almost seven minutes, including the first 5:15 of the second half, to build a 48-28 lead. Mobley drained a 3-pointer to pull the Pirates within 56-52, but Kilpatrick’s 3-pointer with 1:45 remaining gave Cincinnati breathing room to win for the eighth time in nine games away from its home court.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Cincinnati coach Mick Cronin won his 200th career game – 131 of them with the Bearcats. … The 6-3 conference start for the Bearcats is their best through nine games since joining the Big East in 2005-06. … Seton Hall’s 1992-93 Big East championship team was honored at halftime.
