St. John’s 79, DePaul 74 (OT): JaKarr Sampson and Sir'Dominic Pointer combined for all 10 points in the extra period as the host Red Storm survived the Blue Demons to win their fifth straight game.

D’Angelo Harrison led five players in double figures with 17 points for St. John’s (14-7, 6-3 Big East) before fouling out with 3:46 left in regulation. Pointer posted his second double-double of the season with 11 points and 12 rebounds while Sampson finished with 13 points and eight rebounds.

St. John’s had an opportunity to win the game in regulation, but officials ruled after replay that Sampson did not draw a foul before the buzzer following a mad scramble near half court. From that point, Pointer and Sampson each hit two free throws while DePaul (10-10, 1-6) missed its final four shots and committed two turnovers. The Blue Demons dropped their fifth straight contest, shot 35.7 percent from the field and finished with 18 turnovers – 13 more than St. John’s.

DePaul’s Brandon Young led all scorers with 21 points.
