No. 23 Cincinnati 62, Rutgers 54: Sean Kilpatrick scored a game-high 19 points and the host Bearcats held the Scarlet Knights scoreless for more than seven minutes down the stretch to win the Big East contest.

Cincinnati (17-4, 5-3 Big East) trailed by as much as 10 early in the second half before Kilpatrick’s basket capped a run that put the Bearcats in front 42-40 with 11:07 left. Rutgers tied the game at 46 with 8:03 remaining, but did not score again until the 43-second mark.

Cheikh Mbodj added 10 points for Cincinnati, which has won four of the last five games including two victories over Rutgers. Second-leading scorer Cashmere Wright struggled with foul trouble, but his 3-pointer put the Bearcats ahead for good 49-46 with 6:47 left and he finished with six points.

Myles Mack had 15 points, while Eli Carter and Jerome Seagears each had 11 for Rutgers (12-8, 3-6), which has dropped four straight. The Scarlet Knights had 21 turnovers and were 2-of-7 from 3-point range in the second half after draining six of their 10 tries before halftime.

Seagears scored all of his 11 points, making three of his four attempts from 3-point range, as Rutgers built a 30-22 lead at intermission. Cincinnati missed nine of its first 10 shots from the field and was 2-of-12 from behind the 3-point arc in the opening 20 minutes.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Justin Jackson had seven points, seven rebounds and six of Cincinnati’s eight blocks. … Dane Miller had four points on 2-of-8 shooting for Rutgers, which lost to Cincinnati 68-58 on Jan. 12. … Cincinnati leads the series 14-4, winning seven of the last eight.
