Georgetown 74, Seton Hall 52: Otto Porter Jr. scored 20 points and the Hoyas’ suffocating defense forced 25 turnovers en route to convincing home win over the Pirates.

Markel Starks hit four 3-pointers and had 16 points for Georgetown (15-4, 5-3 Big East), which recorded 16 steals – its most since 2003 – and won its third straight game.

Brian Oliver, in his third game back after missing five games with a sprained ankle, led Seton Hall (13-8, 2-6) with 13 points while Aaron Cosby finished with 12 points.

The Hoyas left little doubt they were the superior team in the opening minutes, recording five steals - leading to seven points over the first 6:11 – as they raced out to a 20-4 advantage midway through the first.

Seton Hall rallied to within seven at one point and trailed by 10 at halftime, but Georgetown held the Pirates to a free throw for the first six-plus minutes after the break, which was more than enough time for Porter and Starks to score 11 of the first 12 points of the half and leave the Hoyas with a commanding 44-24 lead.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Georgetown, which owns the country’s tenth-stingiest scoring defense, improved to 12-1 when it holds its opponent to less than 60 points. … Seton Hall was held to its lowest point total of the season and lost for the sixth time in seven games. … The Pirates shot a season-low 32.6 percent from the field and became the sixth straight Hoyas opponent to shoot less than 40 percent.
