No. 9 Butler 83, Temple 71:
Rotnei Clarke had 24 points and a career-high nine assists in his return to the lineup and the Bulldogs pulled away late against the visiting Owls.

Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson’s free throw capped a 16-5 Temple run and tied the game at 56 with 8:14 to play, but Butler (17-3, 4-1 A-10) answered with its own 16-4 run and maintained a double-digit lead in the final minutes.

Khyle Marshall scored 19 points on 9-of-11 shooting and Kellen Dunham added 17 points for the Bulldogs, who had their 13-game winning streak snapped by La Salle on Wednesday. The Bulldogs shot 52 percent from the field and outrebounded the Owls 33-21.

Khalif Wyatt scored 16 of his 22 points in the first half for Temple (13-6, 2-3), which fell to 1-3 against top-10 teams this season. Scootie Randall chipped in 13 points and Anthony Lee added 12 points and seven rebounds.

Clarke, who missed three games with a sprained neck, scored 13 first-half points and propelled Butler to a three-point lead at the break. Clarke was 4-of-14 shooting from the field and 3-of-10 from 3-point range in his first game since Jan. 12 at Dayton, but he made 13-of-14 free throws.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Butler, which averaged just over 59 points without Clarke the last three games, scored 80 points for the fifth time this season and first since an 88-86 overtime win over then-No. 1 Indiana on Dec. 15. … Temple lost despite forcing 14 turnovers and making nine of its 18 shots from 3-point range … Butler improved to 79-11 in Hinkle Fieldhouse under coach Brad Stevens.
