No. 15 Ohio State 65, Penn State 51: Sam Thompson scored 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting as the visiting Buckeyes rolled to their 18th straight win over the Nittany Lions.

Lenzelle Smith Jr. added 11 points and eight rebounds for Ohio State (15-4, 5-2 Big Ten) while Deshaun Thomas, the conference's leading scorer (20.5), managed only 11 points on 4-of-13 shooting.

Jermaine Marshall led Penn State (8-12, 0-8) with 16 points while D.J. Newbill logged 15 and six assists.

Two Shannon Scott jumpers and a Thompson dunk sparked a 14-1 run as the Buckeyes turned a tie game into a 25-12 lead with 4:50 left in the first half. After taking a 29-18 lead into halftime, Thompson converted a three-point play 27 seconds into the second half.

A Newbill layup and Brandon Taylor 3-pointer pulled Penn State withing 32-23 just 2:17 later, but Ohio state responded with a 12-2 run -- capped by another Thompson three-point play -- as the lead ballooned to 44-25 with 13:37 left. The Nittany Lions never got closer than 13 from there.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Thomas' 11 points marked his lowest scoring total this season. The last time he scored fewer than a dozen came in the NCAA title game on March 31, 2012. Thomas scored nine points on 3-of-14 shooting in Ohio State's 64-62 loss to Kansas. ... Both teams combined to commit just 12 turnovers. The Buckeyes committed eight while Penn State had four. ... Ohio State outrebounded the Nittany Lions, 38-25.
