Oklahoma 73, Texas 67: Romero Osby scored a career-high 29 points as the host Sooners ended their recent woes against the Longhorns.

Amath M'Baye added 15 points while freshman Buddy Hield chipped in with 12 points for Oklahoma (13-4, 4-1 Big 12), which ended a six-game losing streak to Texas.

Sheldon McClellan finished with a career-high 25 points for the Longhorns (8-10, 0-5), who are off to their worst start in conference play since 1976.

After neither team led by more than five points during a closely contested but turnover-plagued first half, the Sooners began to gain some separation as Oklahoma took advantage of a shorthanded Longhorns frontcourt. Osby and M’Baye combined to score 16 straight points for the Sooners after Texas pulled to within four at one point, taking a 69-58 lead with 1:42 left.

Ioannis Papapetrou quickly brought Texas back to within four points with two 3-pointers over a 24-second span, but Osby and Sam Grooms closed out the Longhorns with four free throws down the stretch.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Texas sophomore F Jonathan Holmes injured his right wrist in the first half and immediately asked out of the game. He returned to the bench early in the second half with his hand in a heavy cast and was held scoreless for the first time in his career. … The teams combined for 20 turnovers in the first half – including 12 by Texas – but committed seven total in the second half. … The Longhorns turned the ball over on eight of their first nine possessions, but committed only six more over the remainder of the game.
