Sophomore guard Shane Larkin scored 18 points and grabbed five rebounds as the host Hurricanes rallied from a 11-point first half deficit to snap a two-game losing streak.

Larkin, the son of baseball Hall of Famer Barry Larkin, connected on 3-of-6 3-pointers, including back-to-back treys to highlight a 16-2 run midway through the second half when Miami (9-3) broke away from a 45-45 tie and took control.

Guard Tyrone Garland came off the bench to score a team-high 20 points and senior guard Ramon Galloway added 12 points and eight rebounds for La Salle (9-3), which had a three-game winning streak snapped.

Forward Kenny Kadji added 14 points, 11 rebounds, four steals and three blocks for Miami while guards Durand Scott (18) and Trey McKinney Jones (14) also scored in double figures.

Miami, which opens Atlantic Coast Conference play on Saturday at Georgia Tech, ended the game with a 31-14 run and held the Explorers to 37.1 percent shooting from the field.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Miami played without starting C Reggie Johnson, who is expected to be sidelined four-to-six weeks with a fractured left thumb. ... The Hurricanes, who had a streak of 354 consecutive games with at least one 3-pointer snapped in a Dec. 25 loss to Indiana State in the Diamond Head Classic in Honolulu, were 8-of-17 from 3-point range (47.1 percent). ... Galloway, the leading scorer in the Atlantic 10, had a streak of five straight games with 20 or more points snapped and was held scoreless in the second half.
