No. 7 Syracuse 96, Central Connecticut State 62
: Michael Carter-Williams led five players in double figures with a season-high 18 points and had 13 assists as the host Orange gave coach Jim Boeheim his 902nd career victory, tying him with Bobby Knight for second all-time.

C.J. Fair, Brandon Triche and DaJuan Coleman each scored 13 points for Syracuse (12-1), which made 10-of-22 (45.5 percent) 3-pointers and had a 55-29 advantage on the glass in extending the nation's longest home win streak to 32 games.

Matt Hunter led the Blue Devils (4-7) with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Kyle Vinales chipped in 14 points in his team's fourth straight loss.

Central Connecticut State led 21-18 with less than nine minutes left in the first half before Fair hit a jumper to ignite a 10-0 run. A Vinales 3-pointer ended the burst, but Fair answered again with one of his own to start a 13-0 surge en route to a 21-point halftime lead.

Syracuse took a 63-33 lead on a Fair layup with 14:09 left and grabbed its only 40-point advantage on a pair of free throws by Carter-Williams with 5:11 remaining. Two days after posting their lowest scoring total since February, the Orange posted their second-highest output of the season.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Blue Devils have been outrebounded in their last four games by a whopping 200-107 margin. ... Boeheim can move past Knight when Syracuse hosts Rutgers in its Big East opener Thursday. ... Carter-Williams was one rebound shy of a triple-double. He came one assist short of achieving the feat earlier this season against Arkansas.
