: James Southerland scored a game-high 21 points as the host Orange outscored the Golden Griffins 50-29 in the second half to remain unbeaten and earn their 21st consecutive victory in the head-to-head series.

Brandon Triche added 19 points and five assists and Michael Carter-Williams tallied his fifth straight double-double with 12 points and 14 assists for Syracuse (9-0), which shot 54.8 percent from the field and 57.1 percent (8-of-14) from 3-point range.

Isaac Sosa and Billy Baron scored 15 points apiece for Canisius (6-2), which led 32-30 with 2:06 left in the first half.

The Orange led by as many as nine in the first half after Carter-Williams and Jerami Grant 3-pointer increased the lead to 23-14 with 9:26 left in the period. Baron and Sosa baskets pulled the Golden Griffins within four, and Jordan Heath and Josiah Heath tallied three points apiece to give Canisius a 32-30 lead before Syracuse closed the half on a 5-0 run.

The Orange scored the first six points of the second half as part of a 15-3 run. After two Sosa 3-pointers cut the Golden Griffins deficit to 69-57 with 4:12 left, Syracuse scored 11 straight to seal the win.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Syracuse has won 29 straight at home and 51 against non-conference opponents. .... Carter-Williams recorded 11 of his 14 assists in the second half. He assisted on all five Syracuse baskets in the late-game 11-0 run. ... Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim recorded his 899th win. He'll go for No. 900 against Detroit on Monday. Mike Krzyzewski and Dean Smith are the only members of the 900 club.
