Achraf Yacoubou came off the bench to record 13 points and six rebounds as the visiting Wildcats used a 13-5 second-half run to pull away for their 11th straight victory over the in-state rival Quakers.

Yacoubou scored five straight points to highlight the decisive stretch which gave Villanova (5-4) a 55-43 lead with 6:19 left. Ryan Arcidiacono added 12 points on 3-of-6 3-point shooting while Mouphtaou Yarou and JayVaughn Pinkston chipped in 10 points apiece.

Miles Cartwright led Pennsylvania (2-7) with 16 points, making all 10 of his free throws. Steve Rennard added 12.

Pinkston scored seven straight points to help Villanova run out to a 14-2 lead 4:43 into regulation. A Cartwright 3-pointer pulled the Quakers within 20-17 with 8:06 left in the half before a Yacoubou 3-pointer with four seconds left in the half capped a 7-0 Wildcats run, giving them a 35-27 lead at the break.

Another Cartwright deep ball and a Henry Brooks jumper pulled Pennsylvania back within three points 1:18 into the second half. A Pinkston free throw kicked off the 13-5 spurt before Yacoubou made two foul shots and converted a three-point play to help seal the victory.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Villanova outrebounded Pennsylvania 34-25. ... The Wildcats entered the game having lost to four of their last five non-conference opponents. ... Yacoubou and James Bell tied for a game-high six rebounds. No Quakers player hauled in more than four.
