No. 6 Louisville 99, Missouri-Kansas City 47: Russ Smith scored a career-high 31 points and the Cardinals rode some blistering shooting to a blowout of the visiting Kangaroos.

Smith matched his season average with 19 points in the first half alone as Louisville (8-1) hit 11 of its first 13 shots in bolting to a 30-9 lead.

Luke Hancock and Montrezl Harrell came off the bench to score 15 and 14 points, respectively, for the Cardinals, who led 53-28 at the half. Louisville, which won its third in a row, wound up one point shy of reaching 100 for the first time since Dec. 27, 2010.

Nelson Kirksey and Trinity Hall scored nine points each to pace Missouri-Kansas City (4-5), which absorbed its third loss by at least 39 points.

Smith, who was coming off a season-low 13 points in Tuesday's rout of College of Charleston, shot 12-for-18 and also matched his career high of seven rebounds to go along with five assists and five steals.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Cardinals, who entered the game ranked eighth nationally in turnover margin, had 16 steals and forced 22 turnovers. ... The Kangaroos hit half of their eight 3-point attempts in the first half but went 1-for-14 after the break. ... Smith connected on 3 of 5 3-point attempts to end a slump that saw him fail to hit more than one in five straight games.
