No. 23 Georgetown 46, Towson 40: Greg Whittington led four players in double figures with 11 points as the Hoyas held off an upset bid by the visiting Tigers.

The Hoyas (7-1) shot just 29.2 percent (14-for-48) from the floor but held the Tigers without a point for the final 4:37 to survive and win their fourth straight. Nate Lubick, Mikael Hopkins and Otto Porter each had 10 points for Georgetown.

Former Hoya Jerrelle Benimon had his fifth double-double in seven games with 11 points and 16 rebounds to lead Towson (4-5). Jerome Hairston added 10 points for the Tigers, who shot 32.6 percent (15-for-46) and had 19 turnovers.

Georgetown went a span of 7:42 in the first half without a field goal, while Towson had a similar stretch that lasted nearly seven minutes. The teams finished the half with a combined 11-for-56 (19.6 percent) effort from the floor and the Hoyas ahead 17-15.

A nip-and-tuck second half had Georgetown nursing a one-point lead with less than six minutes left. However, Lubick scored on a nice feed from Porter and Whittington followed with a breakaway dunk to ignite a game-ending 8-3 run.
