Virginia 46, Tennessee 38: Joe Harris and Akil Mitchell each scored 13 points as the host Cavaliers rolled to their sixth consecutive win over the offensively challenged Volunteers.

Mitchell also added 12 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season. Darion Atkins added eight points for Virginia (7-2), which never trailed.

Trae Golden led Tennessee (4-3) with 11 points, but as a team the Vols failed to crack the 40-point barrier for the second consecutive game -- both losses. The Vols shot just 28.8 percent from the field.

The Cavaliers (7-2) seized control of this game by capitalizing on a lengthy scoreless drought by the Vols. Tennessee went 6:25 without a point, while Virginia went on an 11-0 run to build a 21-6 advantage.

Virginia still held a healthy 36-21 lead midway through the second half but the Vols mounted a 12-2 run to pull within 38-33 with 7:31 remaining. Tennessee got as close as 42-38, but Teven Jones and Paul Jesperson combined to go 4-for-4 from the line in the final 32 seconds and help Virginia seal the win.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Virginia improved to 5-1 all-time against the Vols in games played in Charlottesville. ... Virginia G Jontel Evans missed a significant portion of the second half after limping to the locker room with what appeared to be a foot injury. Evans did return later, finishing with four points and four assists. ... Jarnell Stokes, Tennessee's leading scorer, was held to five points and just five attempted field goals.
