: Elston Turner scored 24 points as the Aggies held off a late run from the Cougars to win their first true road game of the season.

Kourtney Robinson and Ray Turner added 15 points apiece for Texas A&M (6-1), which shot 48.3 percent from the field and outrebounded Houston 39-24.

J.J. Thompson led the Cougars (5-2) with 16 points while Jherrod Stiggers and Danuel House chipped in with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

After a TaShawn Thomas jumper pulled Houston within 30-24 with 3:06 left in the first half, the Aggies closed the period on a 12-0 run, keyed by six Turner points.

The Cougars gradually chipped away at the lead and got as close as 66-59 when Stiggers made a 3-pointer with 1:16 left in regulation.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Turner has led Texas A&M in scoring in five of seven games this season. … Houston entered the game ranked sixth nationally in rebounding with 45 boards per game. … The Aggies host Stephen F. Austin on Wednesday.
