Andy Brown scored 17 points and Chasson Randle added 15 as the Cardinal withstood an upset bid by the visiting Redhawks.

Dwight Powell had eight points and 13 rebounds, and his three-point play put Stanford (5-3) ahead 57-52 with 2:51 remaining. Randle increased the lead to seven with his layup on Stanford’s next possession, and Stanford was able to finally draw clear.

Prince Obasi scored 13 of his career-high 18 points in the first half for Seattle (2-2), which led 30-27 after outrebounding Stanford by 10 in the first 20 minutes. Obasi added eight boards for the Redhawks, who held a 41-38 overall rebounding edge.

Stanford trailed by five with 8:59 to play before using a 7-2 run to take its first lead since early in the first half. The Cardinal won despite shooting 34.4 percent from the field, including 25 percent (3-for-12) from 3-point range.

Deshaun Sunderhaus had 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for Seattle, which dropped to 0-5 all-time against Stanford. The Redhawks, who committed 21 turnovers, were picked to finish eighth out of 10 teams in the WAC preseason coaches’ poll.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Stanford announced that junior wing Anthony Brown will miss the rest of the season with a hip injury …. Seattle F Clarence Trent fouled out with five minutes left with seven points and seven rebounds. …Stanford junior G Aaron Bright missed his fourth straight game with a sprained ankle.
