Boston College 73, Penn State 61: Freshman Olivier Hanlan scored 22 points and the visiting Eagles held off a furious late charge by the Nittany Lions in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

Joe Rahon contributed 14 points and Lonnie Jackson added 10 for Boston College (3-4), which led by as many as 20 before Penn State pulled within 60-57 with 3:08 left. Hanlan responded with a key three-point play to push the lead to six.

Jermaine Marshall scored a game-high 25 points and D.J. Newbill added 22 before fouling out for Penn State (3-3). Ross Travis added a career-high 13 rebounds for the Nittany Lions.

Ryan Anderson had six points and seven rebounds in the opening 20 minutes as the Eagles pushed their lead to 10. Newbill scored 12 points, including a 3-pointer at the buzzer, to pull Penn State within 31-24 at halftime.

The Nittany Lions missed 14 consecutive shots in the middle of the second half and trailed 59-39 with 5:23 left before Newbill and Marshall led the comeback.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Boston College made eight 3-pointers and converted 27-of-36 free throws, including 15-of-19 by Hanlan. ... The Eagles are 6-1 all time in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, their only loss coming at home against Penn State last season. The Nittany Lions are 5-7. ... Penn State played its second full game without leading scorer Tim Frazier, who was lost for the season with a knee injury.
