Boston College 50, Auburn 49: Freshman guard Olivier Hanlan scored a career-high 19 points, including a pivotal free throw with 19.1 seconds left, as the Eagles outlasted the Tigers to snap a three-game losing streak.

Auburn rallied from a late seven-point deficit to tie the game at 49 on Frankie Sullivan’s four-point play with 46 seconds left before Hanlan drove to the basket to force a foul and went 1-for-2. Sullivan’s desperation heave at the buzzer – after being tangled with a defender – hit the rim and bounced away.

Freshman Joe Rahon added 15 points for Boston College (2-3). Sullivan finished with 23 points and Rob Chubb added 12 for the Tigers (2-3).

Boston College’s leading scorer and rebounder Ryan Anderson was ineffective, still hobbled by a sprained ankle that forced him to miss the team’s game against Dayton on Sunday. Anderson finished 0-of-5 from the field, while recording three points and seven rebounds before fouling out with 4:41 left.

There were 12 lead changes in the first half and the Eagles led by four after an 8-2 run. Auburn responded with a basket by Chubb and a 3-pointer by Sullivan to take a 26-25 halftime lead.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Sullivan scored 14 straight points for his team, including the first 11 of the second half. … Boston College shot 8-of-22 from 3-point range while Auburn was 4-of-13. … The two teams both participated in the Charleston (S.C.) Classic last week, with Auburn finishing sixth and Boston College last in the eight-team event.
