Chaminade 86, Texas 73:
DeAndre Haskins scored 32 points and Kevin Hu had 16 as Chaminade, a Division II program from Honolulu, upset Texas for only its seventh victory in 29 years of hosting the Maui Invitational.

Thirty years after Chaminade posted what many believe is the biggest upset in college basketball history by knocking off top-ranked Virginia to advance the idea of holding this tournament, the Silverswords (3-1) gave up the game’s first eight points but seized control the rest of the way, turning a four-point halftime lead into a 10-point advantage in the opening two minutes of the second half.

Texas (2-1) tried to slice into the lead in the second half, but Chaminade made 24-of-26 free-throw attempts in the final 8:43, with Haskins making 13-of-14. Javan Felix led the Longhorns with 17 points, Sheldon McClellan had 14 and Jonathan Holmes and Julien Lewis scored 10 apiece.

The Silverswords shot 34-for-39 from the free-throw line and 10-of-30 from 3-point range. Haskins was 4-for-6 on 3-point shots and Hu 2-for-4.

Chaminade will play Illinois in Tuesday's semifinals while Texas drops into the consolation bracket and will meet USC.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Chaminade improved to 7-76 in the tournament. Its last win came against Oklahoma in 2010. … The Longhorns owned a plus-18.5 rebounding advantage through their first two games, but were outrebounded 41-33. … Ralph Sampson, the star center for Virginia whose team was upset by Chaminade in 1982, was in attendance.
