Arizona State 97, Florida A&M 70: Jahii Carson scored 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting and the host Sun Devils defeated the Rattlers in their first-ever matchup as head coach Herb Sendek became the fourth coach in Arizona State history to record 100 wins.

Jonathon Gilling's two 3-pointers gave the Sun Devils a 64-54 lead with 11:05 left before a 21-6 run — which included a pair of Evan Gordon 3-pointers — pushed the cushion to 92-68 with 2:52 left.

Gilling recorded 13 points and 15 rebounds while Jordan Bachynski added 14 points, eight rebounds and six blocked shots. Chris Colvin came off the bench to post 15 points and six rebounds for Arizona State (2-0).

The Sun Devils ran out to a 22-7 lead behind seven points apiece from Carrick Felix and Colvin and entered halftime with a 45-32 advantage.

Jamie Adams' 3-pointer capped a 9-2 run and pulled Florida A&M (0-3) within 57-52 with 12:24 left, but Gilling quickly helped Arizona State pull away.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Adams led the Rattlers with 24 points while Reggie Lewis added 16 points. … Felix was Arizona State’s fifth double-digit scorer, finishing with 13 points on 6-of-10 shooting. … The Sun Devils are 17-8 in the past five years with five full days between games. Seven of those wins have come against NCAA Tournament-bound teams.
