Reserve Seth Allen scored 16 of his 19 points in the second half and was 5-of-6 from 3-point range as the Terrapins pulled away from the visiting Blackbirds in the Barclays Center Classic.

Dezmine Wells had 15 points, eight rebounds and five assists for the Terrapins (2-1) while Alex Len scored 18 points and had four of Maryland's 10 blocks. The Terrapins' reserves outscored the LIU Brooklyn bench 36-0.

Julian Boyd, the reigning Northeast Conference Player of the Year, had 22 points and eight rebounds for the two-time defending champion Blackbirds (0-3). Brandon Thompson scored 16 points and was 3-for-8 from 3-point range, but his teammates were 4-for-17.

Len, a 7-1 sophomore center from Ukraine, scored Maryland's first eight points and his layup 3:30 into the game put the Terrapins on top for good at 8-7. Maryland survived 12 first-half turnovers and led by as many as 11 before Allen's 3-pointer with 8 seconds left gave the Terrapins a 39-30 lead at intermission.

Len's dunk with 14:38 left stretched Maryland's lead to 50-35, but the Blackbirds chipped away and got to within 66-59 on Jason Brickman's 3-pointer with 7:43 remaining. The Terrapins steadily pulled away with Allen's dunk with 1:47 to go making it 91-71.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Maryland is 8-0 against LIU Brooklyn. ... The Terrapins outrebounded the Blackbirds 40-29 and have a plus-32 rebounding differential this season. ... Maryland's loss was a 72-69 decision to Kentucky on opening night Nov. 9.
