Otto Porter, who is Georgetown’s leading returning scorer, was poked in the eye in the first half and played just six minutes without scoring. He did not return for the second half.

Duquesne jumped to an early 8-3 lead. Georgetown responded with five 3-pointers – four by Smith-Rivera – to grind out a 27-21 halftime lead. The Dukes were held to 2-of-14 from 3-point range in the first 20 minutes.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Georgetown had 17 turnovers, 10 in the second half. … Smith-Rivera would have been 5-of-5 behind the 3-point arc in the first half, but the halftime buzzer beat his release of a shot by a fraction of a second. … Duquesne still leads the all-time series 10-4.
