UC Davis, which finished only 5-26 last season and tied for last place in the Big West Conference, overcame a nine-point second-half deficit and tied the game 61-61 on a layup by Josh Ritchart with 5:10 remaining.

Oklahoma State answered with a layup by swingman Jean-Paul Olukemi to take the lead for good and ended the game on a 12-4 run highlighted by a 3-pointer by freshman point guard Phil Forte.

UC Davis, which was led by guard Corey Hawkins' 13 points, stayed in the game by dominating the boards, outrebounding the Cowboys 43-29 and finished with a 26-22 edge in points in the paint.

But Oklahoma State used its quickness to force 21 turnovers and finished with a 22-10 edge in points off turnovers.
