Auburn 61, IPFW 50: Frankie Sullivan scored 26 points as the host Tigers survived the Mastodons’ upset bid.

Auburn (1-0) had its hands full all night, but got a key three-point play from Josh Wallace with 2:40 to go to survive.

Joe Edwards brought IPFW (0-1) within 48-46 on a 3-pointer with 4:37 remaining. But Sullivan scored a basket and Wallace’s three-point play gave Auburn a 53-46 advantage with 2:40 remaining.

Rob Chubb scored 10 points with a career-high 15 rebounds for the Tigers. Allen Payne added 12 points.

Frank Gaines scored a career-high 32 points for IPFW. He finished 10-for-18 from the field, including 3-for-8 from beyond the arc.
