South Florida 58, Temple 44: Victor Rudd and Anthony Collins scored 17 points apiece as the Bulls battled back from 11 percent shooting in the first half to cruise past Temple in the second round of the NCAA tournament.

No. 12 seed South Florida (22-13) started the second half with a 24-6 run to take a 14-point lead and held off a Temple rally to reach Sunday's third round of the Midwest Regional against 13th-seeded Ohio.

Toarlyn Fitzpatrick added nine points for South Florida, which shot 61 percent from the field in the second half.

Khalif Wyatt finished with 19 points to lead fifth-seeded Temple (24-8), which was held to more than 32 points below its average. Owls leading scorer Ramone Moore had only five points.

Temple was within 41-38 before South Florida sealed it with a 7-0 run.

South Florida went almost 16 minutes without a field goal and missed 22 consecutive shots in the opening 20 minutes, but the Bulls scored the final seven points to pull within 19-15 at halftime.

Wyatt scored nine points, going 6 for 6 from the free throw line, to lead the Owls in the first half. Temple held South Florida without a point for 10:39.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Bulls were 3 for 27 and Temple 5 for 13 from the field in the first 20 minutes. … Shaun Noriega had seven points for South Florida, his highest total since Dec. 28. … Temple was making its 30th appearance in the NCAA tournament, while South Florida is in its third.
