Louisville 69, Davidson 62: Peyton Siva had 17 points and six assists and Chane Behanan added 14 points and 11 rebounds as the Cardinals defeated the Wildcats in West Regional play in Portland.

Kyle Kuric scored 13 points as fourth-seeded Louisville (27-9) advances to play either New Mexico or Long Beach State on Saturday in the round of 32.
Jake Cohen had 24 points and 10 rebounds and Clint Mann added 13 points for 13th-seeded Davidson (26-7).

Louisville dominated the game with its defense and held the Wildcats to a season-low 35 percent shooting from the field. Davidson missed 11 consecutive 3-point attempts over a 25-minute stretch and finished 4 of 19.

The Cardinals led by eight at halftime and increased the lead to 49-37 with 10:56 to play after four straight free throws by Behanan.

Louisville led 59-44 with under 3 1/2 minutes to play before the Wildcats made a frantic late-game push to pull within 67-62 with 9.9 seconds left. But Chris Smith hit two free throws to seal it for Louisville.

The Cardinals finished the first half with a 7-1 run to take a 33-25 halftime lead. Louisville held Davidson to a season-low first half scoring output as the Wildcats shot just 30 percent from the field. Kuric had 10 first-half points and Siva tallied nine.

Davidson’s late push kept the Wildcats from a season-low point total. The Wildcats tallied just 61 against Charlotte.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Siva has 186 assists this season, second in Louisville history behind LaBradford Smith (226 in 1989-90) … The Wildcats were 2 of 12 from 3-point range in the first half … Cardinals center Gorgui Dieng sat out the last 10 1/2 minutes of the first half after drawing his third foul … Davidson was making its first NCAA appearance since Stephen Curry led them to the Elite Eight in 2008.
