Colorado 53, Utah 41: Andre Roberson had 20 points and 11 rebounds for his 17th double-double of the season as the Buffaloes survived two long scoring droughts and won the battle of conference newcomers in the first round of the Pac-12 tournament.

Carlon Brown recorded 15 points, eight rebounds and four steals for sixth-seeded Colorado (20-11), which will play third-seeded Oregon in Thursday’s quarterfinals.

The Buffaloes have back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time.

In a 1:44 stretch of the first half, Roberson, who was a Pac-12 first-team and all-defensive team selection, had an offensive rebound, two free throws, a steal, an assist, a block and a 3-pointer.

Jason Washburn had 11 points, six rebounds and five blocks for the 11th-seeded Utes (6-25), who lost 11 of their final 12 games and finished 0-19 away from home, including 0-4 at neutral sites.

Colorado survived a scoreless stretch of 10:12 in the first half and led 25-23 at intermission. The Buffaloes went on a 10-0 run early in the second half to take a 35-25 lead before going 8:38 without a point.

The Buffaloes put it away with an 8-0 run, capped by an alley-oop from Roberson to Austin Dufault to make it 45-35 with 2:32 left.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Roberson registered his 100th career block. … Tad Boyle recorded his 100th career victory, and 44th in two seasons at Colorado. … Utah coach Larry Krystkowiak received a technical foul early in the second half. … Colorado finished 3-0 against Utah this season, including a 73-33 victory in the first meeting on Dec. 31. ... The Buffaloes split with Oregon.
